The Perfect OTK

Finding the perfect over the knee boot is easier said than done. I ordered four pairs of boots from Macy’s and spent over $500 to find the perfect pair of OTKs (over the knee).

I’m a little more particular when it comes to my boots. I have really small calves so everything slouches down on me. When shopping for boots I like to buy from Nordstrom6pm.com, Macy’s and Zappos. I default to 6pm.com because they have a fantastic selection and all at discounted prices. Not to mention you can create a filter for everything to allow you to find the perfect shoes.

Here is my dream boot that I just purchased from Macy’s on Black Friday. Thanks Marc Fisher!

I like a heel height of 1.5″-2.5″. A 2″ heel is perfect for me because I don’t tower over my husband and it’s perfect to walk in. In New York that’s important cause on some days you will walk miles upon miles in the city. I prefer a shaft circumference of 13″-15″. The closer to 13″ the better. Now the shaft height differs for everyone. I am a solid 5’5″ and an 18″ shaft height hits me right at the knees. 20″ shaft will hit just above the knee cap and the perfect OTK is a 21″-22″ shaft height, Jackpot!! I recently purchased an adorable pair of over the knee boots from Forever 21 with a 24″ shaft height and it should have been called a UTK (under the kitty) because it came SO high up leg.

So with all those requirements it’s not easy to find the perfect boot for me. So to make a suggestion  for you ladies, I’d say get a boot with whatever heel height you prefer, with a 15″ shaft circumference, and a shaft height of 21″-23″. If you set your filters to that you should be able to find you dream boot too. Zappos and DSW are good for filtering as well.

I’ve been searching FOREVER for the perfect OTK for me but along the way I’ve found some boots that may be perfect for you. So sit back, relax, and sip that wine because I’ve done the shopping for you! Good luck ladies and I hope you find your perfect OTKs soon. Happy Holidays! Xoxo
