Yesterday afternoon I was enjoying a casual two bottles of wine with some of my favorite blogger besties when the topic of our blog passions came up. I told my friends that I’ve always been a trendy not spendy girl for as long as I’ve known. Growing up I never considered or thought of myself as spoiled. My family isn’t into materialistic things and if I was ever spoiled it was with love from my family.
We did get spoiled once a year and that was when we went back to school clothes shopping with my Nani. Every school year we got $100 from my Nani and we could get anything we wanted. Even back then $100 doesn’t go very far. No matter which grade, your outfit on the first day of school is crucial. You also really need some killer looks for the first full week. But, how is $100 going to cover all that? Haha not a problem.
Every year I made it my goal to get full outfits for Monday through Friday for just $100. While my sister was using her $100 to get 4-5 items I was using mine to get 4-5 outfits. That’s where trendy not spendy all began. I rather always get my bang for my buck. A little bit can really go a long way.
I’ve always been a budget babe and bargain hunter my entire life, so where did the blog begin? The blog actually began back in 2010 as Bye Bye Buyers Remorse. Gosh, it took me so long to come up with that name and though I loved it, it was mouth full. Not to mention it was also a bitch to write in the URL bar. Bye Bye Buyers Remorse was a fun hobby for a few years and then it died. A couple years later I decided to give blogging another shot.
Since I didn’t love the name Bye Bye Buyers Remorse I knew I had to come up with the perfect name. It took months of thinking about it and then one day Eric said, “I think I have it. It’s kind of cheesy, but it’s catchy.” And there it was Trendy Not Spendy.
I’m proud to be a bargain babe. I may be frugal at times and I wouldn’t have it any other way. I’ve always loved the challenge of having $100 and being able to stretch it as far as I can. With that said I have a fun $100 challenge coming soon and of course it will keep you Trendy Not Spendy.
