You Did Good 2017

Every New Years Eve no matter the year you always look back and reflect on the previous year. You analyze the pits and the peaks and hope for the best in the year to come. Sometimes you make a New Years Resolutions and try our best to keep them. Last year I thought about our time in New York and things I wanted to do and places I wanted to go. Being on the east coast you have the advantage to travel to the Carribean or to Europe because it’s so much closer than living in San Francisco. My New Years resolution was simply to travel more.

We hit the ground running in 2017 and started our year going to Aruba for our honeymoon. Finally! Six months later we took that good ole honeymoon. The plan was originally to go to Positano, but with poor planning Aruba it was. Aruba took me by surprise and we ended up absolutely loving it! We got to lay on gorgeous white sandy beaches, eat some of the most amazing seafood, and splash around with flamingos. It was an incredible way to start the year.

Before moving to New York going to The Hamptons or Montauk was on my NYC bucket list. Oh my goodness I have been wanting to go so bad. I had never been and wanted to see what all the fuss was about. Oh trust me, it’s fuss worthy. We got to go twice this year and for the best holiday weekends. We went with two big groups of friends for Memorial Day and 4th of July and I couldn’t have asked for a better group of people to help me check this off my bucket list.

Shortly after the 4th of July I traveled back to California to make it home for our annual family camping trip in Guerneville, Russian River. I missed it last year and it was so hard because I’ve been going for the past 30 years and last summer was my first time not going. I was over joyed to spend the weekend camping with my family.

Shortly after Russian River was the best highlight of all because my beautiful niece Madison was born. Out of 11 first cousins this is the first baby to be brought into the family. My sister and brother in-law made the most beautiful baby girl (not even being biased). She is such a good baby. She is always so smily and super super chill. Madison coming into our lives was the ultimate highlight of the year. No matter where we traveled or what she did, she was my ultimate peak of 2017.

As our travels continued we then finally got to make our honeymoon Positano dreams come true. With some help from family and friends we got to make it to Italy for our one year wedding anniversary. A honeymoon and one year anniversary all in one year. We started in Positano, continued to Amalfi and Ravello, hoped over to Capri, and ended the trip in Rome. It was the perfect trip! Thank you so much again to our family and friends who helped make it happen.

Thinking my travels for the year were over I was surprised when my sister asked me to come Paris. My brother in law was going for work, my sister wanted to tag along, and then it came down to….hmmm….whose going to watch the baby? That’s where I came in. Being that I was blogging full time and have a flexible schedule they asked me to come to watch the baby while they worked. Au Pair for 12 days sounded pretty good to me. I fell more in love with Paris and even more in love with my niece after spending so much time with her.

2017 was a good year. Though I did have a few lows the highs out weighed the bad. I am so fortunate and grateful that I had the opportunity to do so much this year. 2017 you freaking rock! Thank you for one of the best years and I can’t wait to see whats in store for 2018.
